Shame on the American Federation of Teachers and Hillary Clinton. Shame on the special interest groups that use technologies to invade personal life, privacy, and more.
As a University professor I never expected this. I received a phone call in my cell phone. First it is blocked message and says ‘unknown call’. I was hesitant to pick it up. I do not provide my number to anybody and everybody. I thought it must be someone I know or deal with and he or she must be calling from a blocked phone.
I picked up the call. It was shocking to know that the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is calling. There was no real person. It was an automated calling system. It said here is a message from a friend and started playing Hillary Clinton’s plead for my vote for her.
I understand how AFT got my number. I was a union member before when I taught as adjunct faculty in a state university. First, they did not update their list. I am no longer their member since I do not teach in the same university. But more importantly I did not provide my cell phone number to them to hear political special interest messages especially on my cell phone. It cost me money to hear anything on my cell phone. When will AFT and other special interest groups learn to respect individual privacy?
Shame on AFT. Is this is what educators are teaching our students in colleges and universities?
